According to the US National Sleep Foundation, daily life style is the most important factor in determining a person's ideal sleep time .

In the study of the Foundation, the average ideal sleep times by age are as follows:

A newborn baby up to 3 months needs to sleep 14 to 17 hours each day, while these figures range from 12 to 18 hours.

Babies from 4 months to 11 months need to sleep for 12 to 15 hours. It is recommended that toddlers in the age range of 1-2 years sleep 11-14 hours.

For children between the ages of 3 and 5 who have not yet started school, sleeping 10-13 hours a day is considered healthy.

Children between the ages of 6-13 who go to school should sleep for 9 to 11 hours.

The recommended sleep time for the 14 -17 age range is 8 to 10 hours.

For adolescents in the age range from 18 to 64 years of age when the period of adulthood ends and 7-9 hours is considered the ideal sleep time, 65 years of age is recommended to sleep 7 to 8 hours.
