Recommended Sleep Rules for Children by Age are as follows

Newborn Sleeping Scheme
Newborn babies need a lot of sleep. During the first few weeks they sleep continuously throughout the day. Newborns should sleep 4-8 times a day during daytime sleep. Sleep times range from 15 minutes to 4 hours. The time between daytime sleep should be between 45 minutes and 1 hour. Bedtime should be 21.00-23.00 at the latest and 8-14 hours night sleep. Newborn babies will usually wake up every 20-40 minutes between confectionery. Total daily sleep periods should be between 14-18 hours.

2-4 months sleep pattern
Children between two and four months of age should sleep 3-4 times a day and have a 9-10 hour night's sleep. Total daily sleep time should be 14-16 hours.

4-6 months sleep order
Babies aged four to six months are usually more alert during the day. They will go to sleep much longer at night, even some babies can go to sleep at night without waking up. They sleep 2-3 times a day and sleep 10 hours at night. A total daily sleep of 15 hours is recommended for 4-6 months old babies, but in general this month, babies sleep 12 hours per day.

6-9 months sleep pattern
During this period, children will probably have sleep routines. They should understand the separation between day and night. They can be in a more predictable sleep pattern throughout the day with a 2-3 night sleep and a solid night routine. Daytime sleep periods are 1-2 hours. They can sleep 3 times during the day and the time between day sleep is 2-3 hours. They sleep for 9-12 hours at night. Babies aged six to nine months can sleep for 14 hours over a 24 hour period.

9-12 months sleep order
During this period, children sleep twice during the day and sleep time should be 1-2 hours. The time between daytime sleeps is 3 hours. They sleep 10-12 hours at night. Total daily sleep periods should be 12-14 hours. Their nutrition will be mainly out of breast milk during this period. Some mothers say that normal meals support their sleep at night and sleep more satisfactorily throughout the night.

12-18 months sleep order
You may notice that at this age, your young child will start to fight sleep or not get tired when the time comes to sleep. Daytime sleep time is 1-2 hours and sleeps 1 or 2 times during the day. The awakening period between two sleep during the day is 3 hours. They sleep 10-12 hours at night. Total daily sleep periods should be 12-14 hours.

18-24 months sleep order
Children 18-24 months old fall asleep once a day and need to sleep for about 11 hours at night.

2-3 years sleep pattern
Children 2-3 years old can sleep once a day for as long as 10-11 hours night sleep is continuous and smooth.

3-5 years sleep pattern
Children of this age will stop their daytime sleep. They may sleep once a day, but may not keep a day. Children aged 3-5 should sleep 10-11 hours a night.

Tips for maintaining sleep patterns for your child

1. Make sleep a priority for your life.
Sleeping regularly in the busy life routine can be difficult. Set an example and take care of your sleep, as in your child, so that your child's vision about sleep will change.

2. Avoid working late at night. Don't let your child be too late for his homework. Try to tell your child the importance of sleeping on time.

3. Create a regular daily routine. Children should follow a strict daily schedule for playtime, snack time, mealtime and sleep time. This way, your child is comfortable and predicts bedtime and sleep time.

4. It is very difficult to go to sleep when you are not tired. Keep your child active during the day. Plan activities that will allow your child to use his or her energy throughout the day, so he will be tired when he goes to bed. This does not apply to infants.

5. Turn off your TV, computer, tablet, etc. 30 minutes before going to bed.

6. Use the bedroom and bed only for sleeping. Keep screens, toys and clutter away from your child's bed and encourage them to sleep in bed only. It may be good to put a plush animal next to your child but don't force it if he doesn't want to.

7. Be aware of sleep problems. Sleep apnea , insomnia, restless sleep, fighting sleep and lack of attention during the day can be symptoms of sleep problems.
