How does noise affect our comfort?
Habitats and activities of people have changed over the ages. The auditory world we live in today was impossible to imagine even a hundred years ago. Considering that more than half of the population lives in increasingly crowded cities, we can say that today's world is quite noisy. However, noise pollution is not inevitable; In new projects and renovations, noise can be controlled in various ways.
How does noise pollution pass through walls?
When the sound encounters a wall, the sound energy is divided. Some are reflected back to the source, some are absorbed by the wall and converted into heat. The rest is transmitted to the air in the adjoining room. This causes vibration and transmits noise to the residents.
Noise pollution is caused by two types of noise:
Sounds create vibration on the walls of the room via the airway. Vibrations on the wall also cause the air in adjacent rooms to vibrate: these sounds include sounds from inside the building (speeches, audio systems, televisions) and from outside (road traffic, trains, airplanes).
Sounds passing through the ceiling, wall, pipe and floor vibrate to emit sound waves through the air into the adjacent room. Sounds may include pulsating noises (footsteps, scraping, moving furniture, dropped items, showers), noise from common equipment (elevator, boiler room), and noise from other equipment (toilet washing, bathroom fittings, showers).
What is sound insulation?
Sound insulation is to reduce the sound energy by absorbing or reflecting it back to the source. This reduction is measured by the level of sound intensity that tells us the acoustic properties of a material, such as a structural component.
Interior insulation
Some materials have acoustic properties that show the ability to absorb the waves while limiting the reverberation of the sound waves. The sound remains inside the house thanks to these materials.
Silentcare for Acoustics
A number of innovative solutions have been developed to improve acoustics in buildings, such as sound impinging on floors, walls and reducing sound absorption in the air. These innovative solutions include multi-component materials consisting of industrial mortars, acoustic mats and many other accessories.
