Iodine is another popular tool for disinfecting wound surfaces. It is designed to treat the surface close to the wound, is not suitable for washing and does not stop bleeding. With a cotton swab dipped in iodine, it is necessary to treat the skin around the wound area and then apply a dry, clean gauze dressing to prevent contamination from entering.

Chlorhexidine is deep, but suitable for the treatment of bleeding wounds. They can wash the wound surface. This medicine is effective against the pathogens of most wound infections, yeast bacteria and viruses that have long-term disinfectant properties.

In a broader spectrum of action there is a modern drug "Miramistin". Since it is produced in solution, it is suitable for washing and disinfecting various wounds. It affects fungi, protozoa, bacteria and spores. Unfortunately, since it does not have hemostatic properties, such a wound needs to be treated first with hydrogen peroxide and then with Miramistin.

In the absence of all the above solutions, you can do with simple alcohol to disinfect a bleeding wound. Alcohol perfectly disinfects and relieves swelling caused by microorganisms entering the wound. It is not recommended to use for washing, as it can aggressively affect damaged tissues and cause burns, especially in children.

When the wound is decontaminated, it should be covered with a clean bandage or gauze. This will prevent inflammation from drying out and the introduction of new microorganisms.
