Do not say massage! A correct massage will save you from serious discomfort, while a wrong massage can cause a lifetime of discomfort on your body. Although it is claimed that massage is done by everyone, it is an important treatment that should be applied only by experts.

For the purpose of massage, the muscles and tissues in the body work more accurately, provide oxygen transmission, toxins are removed and provide psychological relief. Besides, massage can help to get rid of the pains in the body.

Let's start with the benefits of massage first?

Massage is the method of relieving our pains with the simplest effects. It is good for headaches.
Massage is good for joint pain and relaxes the body. If you take a light shower with hot water just before the massage, the positive effect of the massage will increase.
The positive effect of massage on people experiencing stress is also known.
It is curative and preventive for complaints such as insomnia, fatigue and nausea.
It provides good digestive system.
It has a positive effect on the immune system.
It has been found to provide significant benefits for people with blood pressure problems.
As it is beneficial to the blood circulation, it helps the organs in the whole body to function properly.
It's good for menstrual pains.
For these reasons, it is known that in Europe, people spend a certain amount of their annual budgets for massage and get professional massage on average 4 times a year.

In addition, massage chairs are very common in Europe. The Europeans who started to keep the massage chairs seen in the shopping malls on the grounds that it increases the efficiency, believe in the therapeutic and preventive features of the massage.

Can we massage ourselves?

We can massage ourselves. We can massage our feet as well as neck and head massages. Foot massage is very important because it affects the whole body. Each of the nerves gathered in the feet sends therapeutic messages to a certain point of our body. So how do we massage ourselves?

If you have a Plates ball (or a basketball or soccer ball) you can easily massage your back with circular and planar movements.
You can massage your feet, mainly with your thumbs.
You can massage your arms, legs and neck.

With this method you can get rid of some pain on your own, but it will also help you learn which steps of massage have effects on the body. Learning to massage without causing harm will be a great gesture for your partner at home. Another rule to be followed when massaging is to use massage oil to avoid irritating your skin. Massage oil will also recover your skin.

What are the damages?

Although the benefits of the massage do not end with the above, there are also damages. However, in a basic sense, it is not correct to call the harm of massage. If we say the damages caused by the hands doing the massage or claimed to do the massage rather than massage, we would be more accurate. In a real example; a person suffering from severe neck pain next to his friends to ask him to massage. Her friends do not break this request and ‘massage’ that person. The sample person then goes to the doctor to check if there is a neck hernia, but other damage occurred in the areas of hernia, he says. Of course the reason for this is the ‘massage tı of the friends of the person concerned. The sample person has had neck hernia and severe pain for years.

As in the example, uzman massage uygulan applied by non-specialists in sensitive areas such as waist and neck can cause serious discomfort. Can cause severe damage to tissues and muscles. Because people who don't know can experiment with power in your body. This can lead to compensation results.

In addition, if you have some skin diseases, you should not get a massage without consulting your doctor.

We briefly looked at the benefits and harms of the massage. As a result, it should be clear that massage may not be the solution in sensitive areas (especially the waist and neck) and damaged areas where you have been hit. You should never touch these areas, especially for people who do not know.

Our advice to our readers is to learn to do foot massage especially for your spouses. Your spouses face serious challenges throughout the day at work or at home. In the evening, give your partner a small foot massage on the couch next to a cup of tea. This will end your physiological and psychological fatigue.

What is Sinusitis?
The largest (maxillary), the skull under the eyes, above the nasal (sphenoid sinus), above the eyes (frontal sinus) and between the eyes (ethmoid sinuses), there are many small air gaps. These air voids are called sine. Their inflammation causes sinusitis.

What are the sinuses?
The sinuses and nose are part of the respiratory system. Helps shape the sound individually and lighten the head in the body. Normally, the nose and sinuses secrete about half a liter of mucus per day. The produced mucus acts on the nasal cover (mucosa), sweeping and washing dust particles, bacteria and other airborne particles. This mucus is then drained back into the throat and swallowed. Particles and bacteria are destroyed by stomach acid. Many people are not aware of this because this process is a normal body function.

What are the Symptoms of Sinusitis?

There are two types of sinusitis: acute and chronic. In acute sinusitis; Symptoms of nasal congestion, yellow, green or bloody nasal discharge, pain around the eyes, cheek pain that can be confused with toothache, a feeling of pressure on the face, increased face or headache by leaning forward, bad breath. Sometimes you may also have dry cough, mild fever or stomach upset. In chronic sinusitis, the duration of symptoms is longer than three months. Dark nasal discharge, nasal discharge, nasal congestion, inability to smell, and especially cough symptoms at night can be seen.

Is there an effective treatment for sinusitis?

Acute sinusitis is treated with antibiotics and nasal openers. If the sinusitis has become chronic and sinus holes in the nose opening into the nostrils that can not be opened is necessary to treat the surgery.

What is discharge behind the nose?
Inside the nose; It produces too much mucus than usual when disturbed by air pollution, allergic substances, smoke or viruses. This is a secretion produced like plenty of clear water to wash and remove the allergic substance from the nasal membranes. A secretion of water is formed towards the back of the nose. This is the most important cause of backflow. Another type is mucus sticky and thick. This occurs when the airways are very dry and the membranes cannot release enough liquid. Infections caused by bacteria also show viscous and viscous mucus, while the color of the mucus may be yellow or green due to pus. In cases of nasal congestion due to influenza, influenza and sinusitis, discharge may occur backwards.

How to tell if headache is due to sinusitis?
In influenza, influenza and sinusitis, because the intranasal and sinus cavities are filled with mucus or inflammation, headache occurs on the face, cheeks, forehead or around the eye, depending on its pressure. In migraine and other vascular headaches or tension headaches, it creates pain both on the forehead and around the eyes. It can be confused with sinusitis because it can also cause a runny nose. However, this type of headache without a doctor's intervention in a short time to come and pass. It is different from sinusitis which lasts long without doctor intervention and can only be corrected with antibiotic treatment. However, occasional headaches that cause nausea and vomiting are more migraine headaches.

Does Sinusitis Recur After Surgery?

Sinusitis may recur if there is a severe nasal allergy and if the patient is not followed up well with medication.

Who is at Risk for Sinusitis?
- In allergic diseases,
- Nasal disease in childhood
- For smokers,
- Nose bones,
- Nose flesh,
- People with weak body resistance.

How to Prevent?
- Check if you're allergic,
- Treat when you have a cold, use steam humidifier.
- Sleep with the head of your bed raised.
- Nasal decongestants can be used in consultation with a doctor.
- Avoid contaminants that irritate your nose, especially cigarette smoke.
- Eat a balanced diet, exercise regularly.
- Try to limit your relationship with people you know to be infected, if that doesn't happen, take some precautions (such as washing hands, not using common towels and gowns).

What is Sinusitis?
Nasal, forehead, temple and around the eyes filled with air in the space, called the sinus. Sinuses open to the nose through the channels. There is a nasal mucosa in the ducts. The secretion produced by the mucosa ensures that the airways are heated and moist in the nose. Sinusitis is the inflammation of this mucosa.

In general, there are two types, acute and chronic. Acute sinusitis is a newly formed sinusitis and can be completely cured with appropriate treatment. Chronic sinusitis means a continuous inflammation of the sinuses and is difficult to treat.

What are the causes of sinusitis?
Sinusitis develops easily in a condition that prevents normal operation of the sinuses. It often occurs after upper respiratory tract infections. Because in such infections, the ducts of the sinuses are blocked and sinus secretions do not discharge into the nose and accumulate in the sinuses. Thus, microbes multiply in the sinus and inflammation develops. Again; Allergy, curvature of the nasal bone, nasal flesh, weakness of the immune system, turbinate hypertrophy also facilitate the development of sinusitis.

What are the symptoms of sinusitis?
Sinusitis is often mistaken for various headaches, especially migraine. However, the symptom of sinusitis is not only a headache.

There is pain in the face, eye and head (pain increases during coughing, heavy lifting or bending).
Yellow - Green Runny Nose, Bloody Runny Nose
Inability to smell
Throat ache
Inability to smell
Toothache
Light fire
Postnasal drip
Fatigue, weakness
Nausea, vomiting
High pressure sensation across the face
Cough
How is sinusitis diagnosed?
A detailed history of the patient is taken by a doctor who is an Otorhinolaryngologist. Physical examination is done. Computed tomography (CT) may be necessary for x-ray and chronic sinusitis to see the status of the sinuses.

Symptoms of acute sinusitis include facial (face) pain / pressure, nasal congestion, runny nose, decreased sense of smell.

It is also natural for patients with acute sinusitis to have fever, bad breath, fatigue, toothache and cough.

Acute sinusitis can last for four weeks or more. The patient may have two or more symptoms and / or dark green-yellow discharge.

If symptoms worsen after 5 days, acute bacterial infection may occur. If these conditions persist for 10 days or if the severity of symptoms is above normal, it may be associated with viral infection.

Treatment of Acute Sinusitis
Acute sinusitis can be treated to a large extent without the use of antibiotics with early diagnosis. If the infection is bacterial in origin and does not resolve, antibiotic treatment is applied. Decongestants, painkillers, nasal spray or drops also help to treat. If sinusitis is caused by an allergy, the causative agent should be eliminated. Smoking should be avoided during treatment.

Symptoms of Chronic Sinusitis

In chronic sinusitis, symptoms persist for 12 weeks or more. These;

Facial pain or pressure,
Congestion or bloating,
Nasal congestion,
Intense runny nose,
Colorless nasal discharge,
Pus in the nasal cavity (inflammation)
It is fire.
Also;

Headache,
Bad breath
Fatigue can also be observed as a sign of sinusitis.
Chronic Sinusitis Treatment
In chronic sinusitis, surgical method can be chosen. Balloon synoplasty may be performed depending on the patient's condition. In the post-sinus surgery period, dressings should be avoided without delay and sinusitis triggering reasons should be avoided.

Sinusitis treatment may be recommended if treatment with sinusitis is not effective with medications that your doctor deems appropriate and if there is a chronic condition.

What is the recovery time after surgery for sinusitis?
Simple endoscopic surgical procedure is performed under local or general anesthesia.

The patient returns to normal activities within 4 days. Complete recovery of sinusitis takes about 4 weeks.

What is the success rate of sinus surgery?
The operation for the treatment of sinusitis allows the sinuses to be opened naturally. Ear, nose and throat specialists and head and neck surgeons find endoscopic surgery quite successful in returning sinuses to normal function. This procedure opens the occlusion to ensure normal mucus flow.

How is a physical examination performed for sinusitis?
Firstly, a complete ear, nose and throat examination is performed by specialist doctors in our clinic. During a physical examination, the doctor will check for swelling or redness around and around your cheekbone.

Swelling and redness of the face is worse in the morning; shows a decrease during the day due to vertical posture. The doctor checks your sensitivity by pressing on your sinuses.

The doctor will also check your teeth to help identify the inflamed paranasal sinus.

What kind of treatment is recommended by a specialist?
To reduce congestion, the physician may prescribe nasal sprays, nasal drops or oral decongestants. Antibiotics (antibiotics are not effective against viral infections) are prescribed for any bacterial infection found in the sinuses. Antihistamines can be recommended for the treatment of allergies.

How is sinusitis diagnosed?
For the diagnosis of sinusitis, the patient undergoes a physical examination first. Immediately afterwards, other diagnostic tests are performed in our clinic. Laboratory examinations (mucus culture), nasal endoscopy, x-rays, allergy tests, computerized tomography of sinuses are among the tests performed for the diagnosis of sinusitis.

Nasal endoscopy is an important diagnostic tool for sinusitis.

What Relieves Sinusitis Pain?
Various measures can be taken at home to alleviate the pain of sinusitis. For example, hot and humid air helps to alleviate sinus obstruction and pain.

With a hot bath, steam shower, a container filled with hot water, you can relieve the pain of sinusitis by breathing in moist air or by compressing hot. For this several times a day, 5 minutes to 10 minutes, put a warm moist towel on your face. Saline nasal drops and sprays can help in removing congestion. However, consuming plenty of fluids is generally beneficial in relieving pain of sinusitis.

How effective are prescription pills and sprays for sinusitis?
The use of over-the-counter medications and sprays can help relieve symptoms such as sinusitis pain. However, prolonged use of decongestant nasal sprays may worsen symptoms, ie prolonged use of such medications may increase sinusitis headache. Saline nasal sprays or drops are safe for long-term use.

Is it necessary to change any lifestyle during the treatment of sinusitis?
Smoking is harmful in all circumstances. However, a smoker should not smoke during the treatment of sinusitis. No special diet is required. However, consuming plenty of fluids will help reduce the density of mucus fluid.

What happens if the infected sinuses are not treated?
Sinusitis causes constant pain and discomfort. So much so that these disturbances affect daily life negatively and reduce the labor force. Sinusitis may rarely cause meningitis, brain abscess, bone or bone marrow infection when untreated.

Where should people with sinus pain be treated?
If you have severe sinus pain, you should consult an otorhinolaryngologist or head and neck surgeon. Specialist doctors will perform your treatment with medication or surgical intervention.

Nasal Endoscopy
Nasal endoscopy is performed on the nose and sinus. Since local anesthesia is applied, there is no discomfort.

Endoscope; is a special fiber optic instrument for internal examination of a channel or hollow organ. Visual inspection of the nose and sinus evacuation areas with the endoscope is an effective method in the diagnosis of sinus depending on the preference of the physician.

Why Nasal Endoscopy?
Nasal endoscopy provides specialist physicians with a reliable, visual view of all areas of sinus evacuation pathways. For this imaging, the patient is first anesthetized into the nasal cavities. In this way, patients have no problems during the procedure.

The rigid or flexible endoscope is then placed in the desired area. Endoscopy can detect obstructions, as well as hidden nasal polyps that cannot be detected during routine examination and structural abnormalities that may cause recurrent sinusitis.

In recent years, especially in the field of medical technology, in the surgical treatment of chronic sinusitis, while increasing the chances of success with less trauma, technology and devices have been introduced, which significantly reduce the risk of complications. One of the most important of these technological innovations is ‘balloon synoplasty’. Avcılar Hospital Ear, Nose and Throat Surgery Professor. Dr. Hakan Göçmen gave information about ‘balloon synoplasty’ technique. Sinuses are air-filled chambers in the face and head bones. On both sides of the face, there are four types of sinus cavities called maxillary, ethmoid, frontal and sphenoid sinuses. Normally, the nose and sinuses secrete about half a liter of mucus per day. The produced mucus sweeps and washes dust particles, bacteria and other airborne particles by acting on the nasal cover (mucosa). This mucus is then drained back into the throat and swallowed. Many people are unaware of the situation because it is a normal body function. The sinuses strengthen our sense of taste and smell, and also have tasks such as moistening the breathing air. Therefore, their inflammation prevents the full fulfillment of these functions. Each sinus cavity is connected to the nose by a hole. These connections must be open to perform their duties

What is Sinusitis?

Sinusitis is an inflammation of the sinus cavities. In case of a cold or cold, these openings are closed due to secretions and swelling. Sinusitis accumulates in the sinus, with the addition of microbes, we call acute sinusitis occurs. The complaints are mainly fullness, headache and nasal nasal discharge. Chronic sinusitis develops when the sinus openings are closed for a long time. In this case, headache is rare but discharge and nasal congestion persists. As a result of excessive inflammation called polyp formation may develop.

How is sinusitis diagnosed?

The diagnosis of sinusitis may require endoscopic nasal examination as well as paranasal sinus computed tomography and sinus film.

How is sinusitis treated?

In which situations surgical operation is required? Sinusitis is caused by obstruction of the sinus holes. Sinusitis also heals when these obstructed holes are opened. Clogged holes can be drilled in three kinds.

1. With drug treatment

2. With functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESC) and navigation FESC

3. With the help of balloon catheter, balloon synoplasty

Drug therapy is very effective in the early period. Surgery may be required in chronic sinusitis that do not respond to persistent drug treatment. Purpose of surgery; is to open the sinus paths. Thus, the aeration of the sinuses is provided. Infection regresses and disappears in the vented sinus. For the last 30 years, Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery has been a simple technique for the treatment of these diseases. FESC is a surgery called endoscope with thin instruments passing light and aiming to cause as little damage to the anatomical structure of the nose and sinuses as possible. Surgery can be performed under local or general anesthesia, depending on your doctor's preference and you. The operation takes approximately half an hour to one and a half hours. The patient is discharged on the same day or the following day. Postoperatively, there is usually no need to put a tampon in the nose. The patient returns to normal daily life in 3-5 days.

Balloon Synoplasty

The principle of the technique called balloon synoplasty; It is to restore the sinus aeration and mucus evacuation function by expanding the obstructed or narrowed discharge channels of the sinuses using only balloons without cutting out the tissues in this region. In fact, the procedure is to apply the logic of balloon dilation of the occluded coronary vessels to the perforations of the sinuses.

How is balloon synoplasty performed?

Under general anesthesia, first the endoscope and catheter with the location of the narrow sinus mouth, then the catheter-guided balloon is sent to these channels, with the help of inflated balloon in this region is expanded and the inside of the sinus is washed. Balloons containing drug in resistant sinusitis cases have been developed in recent years.

FESC, navigated FESC and Balloon synoplasty, which is valid for the treatment of invasive sunusitis in our hospital, is successfully performed with more than 25 years of experience.

Can Balloon Synoplasty Be Applied to Every Sinusitis Patient?

Balloon Synoplasty is not suitable for every sinusitis patient. It is decided by a ENT specialist according to the characteristics of the patient. Your doctor will make a decision by examining your condition and tomography. Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESC) or other methods should be preferred in cases with excessive polyps, fungal sinusitis and suspected tumor.

Can Balloon Synoplasty be Applied Simultaneously with Other Treatments?

Balloon Synoplasty can be performed with operations such as nasal nasal flesh and turbinate surgery. Sometimes, some sinus mouths of the same patient may be expanded with FESC and others with balloon. It can also be used in patients who have previously failed to intervene in their sinuses.

Is Balloon Synoplasty a Reliable Method?

Balloon Synoplasty is reliable in experienced hands, although other surgical procedures carry more or less risk.

How long does balloon synoplasty last?

It is a minimally invasive method. Although it is done in hospital, it does not require overnight stay. Although it varies from patient to patient, normal activities can be started on the same day.

Is there any age limitation in balloon synoplasty?

In order to apply this technique, it is sufficient to have a patient profile suitable for this treatment. As in all surgical cases, selective treatment should be performed at a young age. Sinus canals can be used safely at any age if intervention is required.

The highly narrowed mouth of the sinus and the green inflammatory fluid inside; catheter inserted into the sinus,

Balon The balloon in the catheter is inflated,

❍ Catheter removed; the inflamed fluid in the sinus is discharged and a proper opening remains in the mouth of the sinus.

What are the Advantages of Balloon Synoplasty?

Z Does not damage technical tissues. (Small, soft, elastic equipment is used, gently opening the closed sinus drainage channels is achieved with minimal tissue damage.) Therefore, bleeding, pain and pain is not much

Ihtimali The possibility of complications is low.

❍ Return of the surgery is positive, re-closure of the channels is not very common

❍ Fast recovery time; most patients may return to their daily life one day after the operation. ❍ The technique can be used in combination with other treatments.

While many dental treatments are successful, some may fail. Although it may be caused by dentists, the main reason for these failures is the patients. This is because patients behave as if they have fully recovered as soon as they leave the examination. Another reason is the upper jaw. Often we would like to point out that the treatments to be applied to the upper jaw are indeed a challenging period of examination for both patients and physicians. Especially the treatment of the upper jaw with blood is a really challenging process. For this reason, the maxillary sinus complications caused by improperly applied root canal treatment have been a very difficult process for patients and physicians.

If you ask what are the maxillary sinus complications caused by wrong canal treatment in the upper jaw, we will answer this question in this article. We would like to point out that sinuses, which are very close to molars and molars, are very important for physicians. For this reason, physicians behave very carefully and sensitively in the root canal treatments that will be applied by the big molar and small molar teeth. These maxillary sinus infections Sinus infections are also the most common and the most common pathological condition of infection. Maxillary sinus cavities, which are very close to the upper respiratory tract, are filled with fluid from birth and descend to a level close to the upper jaw at the age of eight years.

Therefore, the upper jaw structure is very careful when applying dental treatment. Maxillary sinus complications caused by incorrectly applied canal treatment in the upper jaw are listed as follows. Infections of the upper respiratory tract as well as odontogenic diseases. Also included are reduced cilia activity due to tobacco use or air pollution. Allergic causes and specific infectious diseases will surely prevent you from paced swim and diving into overhead water. In order to avoid this discomfort that will have such consequences, you should definitely not rush to the upper jaw treatments and trust your physician.

Pilonidal Sinus And Its Treatment

Pilonidal sinus disease is mainly the cavity or abscess tissue with hair. It most often settles on the coccyx. There are two theories of development.

Plonidal sinus and hair treatment

Pilonidal sinus disease is mainly the cavity or abscess tissue with hair. It most often settles on the coccyx.
There are two theories of development.
1. Congenital theory: In this theory, it is assumed that while in the womb (fetus), subcutaneous tissues develop as a dermal cyst residue due to incomplete joining of the midline
2. Acquired theory: It is assumed that the free hair enters the skin by being stuck in the skin, infection under the skin, the development of abscesses and the opening of the abscess to the pilonidal sinus. Today, acquired theory is more widely accepted.

Risk factors:

The body is hairy and the amount of hair loss
Narrow and deep hips
Skin remains moist and masere
Crack or scar texture in the region
Sitting for a long time
Poor hygiene is the most important risk factor.
The most common finding is that there is one or more small holes (sinus mouth) on the coccyx 3-5 cm above the anus.

Complaints:

Unless infected, there may be no complaints other than pink discharge from the holes.
Infection and abscesses may develop within the underlying sinus. In this case, sudden onset of red, hot, delicate swelling occurs and continuous throbbing style pain occurs. After this period, the swelling may spontaneously discharge with a malodorous yellow discharge or may be evacuated by local surgical intervention. If permanent intervention is not performed after the abscess has been evacuated, abscess attacks may recur.

TREATMENT:

There is no need for additional treatment, except for recommendations, in a small, uncomplicated disease that has no symptoms, no complaints, no abscess attacks.
If an abscess occurs
The abscess is drained. After evacuation, the disease recurs 30-50%. In order to reduce the risk of recurrence, crystalline phenol may be applied together with the discharge process. However, it is not always a preferred procedure since it may increase the risk of abscess formation in the abscess tissue.
Crystalline phenol treatment, known as non-surgical method, or surgical methods should be applied in chronic pilonidal disease causing leaks.
Application of Crystallized Phenol: In this method, after the anesthesia is anesthetized with local anesthesia, the hairs and epithelial tissue are cleaned by entering the sinus mouth with a thin instrument without any additional incision. Crystalline phenol is then introduced into the sinus to accelerate healing. Since this method is applied with local anesthesia and no additional incision is made, it affects the daily life of the patient very little. The chance of success is 80-90%, the risk of recurrence is 5% and it is close to surgical treatment.

Surgical Methods
Cystotomy: The sinus ceiling is opened, the inside is cleaned and cureted and allowed to heal. Healing takes 4-6 weeks and the risk of recurrence is 5-19%.
Bascom Surgery: Similar to cystotomy. Not only the incision is made from the side of the cyst.
Complete removal of the pilonidal sinus: After removal:

Spontaneous healing can be expected by leaving the wound open. The risk of relapse is moderately low (1-6%) but recovery is long-lasting.
The wound can be closed directly. The recovery is partially rapid but the risk of recurrence is high (16-22%).
Flap methods (Karydakis, Limberg, Dufourmental flap, Z plasty): Various flap methods can be used at the wound site that cannot be mutually sutured without direct tension. The risk of recurrence is lower. In most cases the incision will be larger and the scar is larger.
The most annoying point after pilonidal disease treatment is the risk of recurrence. To reduce the risk of recurrence
The coccyx (at least 3-4 cm radius of the sinus) should be removed from the hair
Shower daily (cotton and hairs removed)
Treatment method is surgical application
Scar tissue should not be in the midline
The wound should heal without being infected
Tissue should be closed without tension during surgery
There should be no dead spaces in the middle line.

Sinusitis, one of the most common diseases of today, how to treat, how to protect ourselves from being sinusitis, what are the symptoms of sinusitis? Ear Nose Throat Specialist Dr. Ismail Kocak answered questions about sinusitis.

What is Sinusitis? Where does it occur?

The air gaps around the nasal cavity within our head bones are defined as ‘sinuses.. The air enters the sinus through the nasal cavity. Every time we breathe, the air through the nose reaches the sinuses through small openings. Obstruction of these openings is the main source of sinus infections. There are 4 pairs of sinus cavities. Frontal (forehead), maxillary (cheek), ethmoid (eye edge) and sphenoid (posterior) sinuses. Sinusitis is an inflammation of these air gaps. Viruses, bacteria and fungi cause inflammation in these cavities.

What Causes Sinusitis?

The most common cause is viruses that cause colds. These viruses affect the mucosa lining the intranasal and sinus. After the injection of the virus, the bacteria cause the continuation of sinusitis. Fungal sinusitis is rare. Such infections are short-lived and easily heal. Short-term infections are called sin acute sinusitis.. If sinusitis lasts for a long time, the main problem is whether the air passage doors of the sinuses are structurally or congenitally narrow or closed. In this case, infections last long and are defined as ‘chronic sinusitis..

What Causes Sinusitis?

Decreases in the immune system pave the way for sinusitis. For example, people with a severe flu, organ failure and diabetes suffer from frequent and long sinusitis. Other problems that occur in this include, for example, allergies, nasal impurities in children, nasal flesh, and causes of sinusitis.

Are there drugs that cause sinusitis?

Mucosal constituent, diuretic and some blood pressure drugs prepare the ground for sinusitis.

How is it diagnosed?

The clinical examination of the physician makes the diagnosis. Diagnostic tests are made by intranasal endoscopic examination, sinus x-ray, tomography, culture and odor perception tests.

How is it treated?

Antibiotics are used for bacterial infections and antimycotic treatment for fungal infections. It is important that this remains open until the infection has passed. Therefore, drugs that increase nasal air flow, which are defined as decongestants, are preferred. They are used both as a nasal spray and as a tablet. It is recommended to use cleansing spray and drops that increase the habit of the outbreak in it. Antihistaminic drugs are also added in cases of allergy.

When is surgery necessary?

In chronic structural sinusitis, surgical treatment comes to the forefront when medication is not useful. In the technique called oskop endoscopic sinus surgery tık, the clicked channels of the sinuses are expanded or opened. This is done with laser, balloon and standard instruments. Since the procedures are performed with an endoscope, they are not visible from the outside and do not leave marks or swelling on the face.

How long does the treatment last?

Medical treatment can last from 7 to 21 days. The duration depends on the severity of the infection and the process of its formation. Surgical treatment is completed with a self-healing process after 1 week of care. The transition to normal life after surgical procedures is very short. Especially in laser and balloon sinus surgery, people can continue their normal life on the same day.

What is Balloon Sinus Surgery?

It is the process of expanding the sinus canals with balloons. It is now used safely in all sinus interventions. With the endoscope the problematic sinus is detected by means of a guide wire. The balloon on the guide wire is then inflated in the channel. This extends the sinus canal. There is no bleeding, pain or tampon during and after the procedure.

Recommendations for non-recurrence of sinusitis:

• The best thing is to avoid infection. For this purpose, avoid closed environments during periods of infection. In open and clean air environments.
• Air-conditioned and cold environments trigger sinusitis. Start treatment with decongestion (the drug used to relieve nasal congestion), even if you have a mild upper respiratory infection. Stay away from flights.
• Sweaty sweaty water to drink, head cold, such as going out of hatless situations are not far from close to sinusitis. Be careful though.
• Nasal congestion
• Headache
• Facial pain
• Feeling of fullness in the face and head
• Runny nose
• Postnasal drip
• Odor disturbance
