What is Sinusitis?
Nasal, forehead, temple and around the eyes filled with air in the space, called the sinus. Sinuses open to the nose through the channels. There is a nasal mucosa in the ducts. The secretion produced by the mucosa ensures that the airways are heated and moist in the nose. Sinusitis is the inflammation of this mucosa.
In general, there are two types, acute and chronic. Acute sinusitis is a newly formed sinusitis and can be completely cured with appropriate treatment. Chronic sinusitis means a continuous inflammation of the sinuses and is difficult to treat.
What are the causes of sinusitis?
Sinusitis develops easily in a condition that prevents normal operation of the sinuses. It often occurs after upper respiratory tract infections. Because in such infections, the ducts of the sinuses are blocked and sinus secretions do not discharge into the nose and accumulate in the sinuses. Thus, microbes multiply in the sinus and inflammation develops. What are the symptoms of sinusitis?

How is sinusitis diagnosed?
A detailed history of the patient is taken by a doctor who is an Otorhinolaryngologist. Physical examination is done. Computed tomography (CT) may be necessary for x-ray and chronic sinusitis to see the status of the sinuses.
Symptoms of acute sinusitis include facial (face) pain / pressure, nasal congestion, runny nose, decreased sense of smell.
