Suggested Colors in Interior and Their Effects
Colors affect people's physical and intellectual perceptions as well as their emotional perceptions. Therefore, it is necessary to examine the structural properties of colors as well as their psychological effects. Some colors used in interior spaces narrow the interior, some colors give a sense of freshness. Again, some colors have a stimulating effect, while some colors create a sense of lethargy.
When using colors in interior spaces, firstly, considering the reflectance coefficients, then considering the psychological effects of colors, appropriate selection is made. To ensure luminous uniformity, a certain level of luminance must be established between the ceiling, walls and work surface. Depending on this relationship, the reflectance coefficient of the ceiling should be at least 0,70; the reflection coefficient of the walls is between 0.40 and 0.60; the reflection coefficient of the base should not fall below 0.20. The following table shows the reflectance coefficients of various colors. In the other table, the colors suggested for use indoors and the psychological effects of these colors on people are given.
