Ear pains are uncomfortable but are usually not serious. It can be treated at home with things like mild ear pain, warm and cold compresses and over-the-counter medications. If your ear pain does not go away by yourself, see a doctor for help.

Method
one
Implement Home Solutions

one
Apply heat. Heat can help reduce pain, and there are several different ways to apply heat to your ear. But be careful not to burn yourself!
Keep a hair dryer (running at low setting) 25 cm away from your ear and let it blow air for a few minutes so that it doesn't come directly into your ear. Heat can both relax and help dry out if water has escaped into the ear canal. [1]
Wet a hand cloth with lukewarm water, squeeze thoroughly and press down on your ear for 20 minutes. You can also make cold compresses by dipping the hand cloth into cold water.
Heat the ear with the old ‘heating pad ear suppression’ method. But, be careful not to hold the heater pad too long. After about 3 to 5 minutes, take the pad and let the skin cool.

2nd
Take paracetamol, aspirin or ibuprofen. These over-the-counter painkillers do not relieve ear pain but help alleviate. Follow the manufacturer's instructions when using.
If the pain is severe and does not relieve with one or two tablets, go to your doctor. If you have other symptoms, such as fever or dizziness, go to the doctor immediately.
Never give aspirin to children or adolescents because of the risk of Reye's syndrome. [2]

3
Use olive oil or baby oil. Although it sounds strange, olive oil or baby oil can be a useful alternative to ear drops. They both lubricate and alleviate pain. [3]
Warm the oil so it will not burn, warm and drop 3 or 4 drops into the canal of the aching ear. Wait for about half an hour, then lie down to let the oil flow out. Keep in mind that something lower or higher than body temperature can cause dizziness or vertigo, but this is only temporary. [4]
You can mix the oil with some cinnamon oil if you have one.

4
Do creative things with garlic. Almost everything with garlic is believed to be good for ear pain. Use it if you have any kind of garlic. Here are some of the methods used:
Heat some sesame oil with a crushed clove of garlic for a few minutes. After mixing with the oil, allow the garlic to cool to room temperature. Then, remove the garlic from the oil and apply it to the ear. [5]
Some people find garlic steam relaxing. Divide one clove of garlic in half, put one half in your ear and the other in a glass of steaming hot water. Hold your ear over the glass and let the garlic vapor pass through the garlic into your sore ear. [6]

5
Use the rest of that onion in the fridge. Another vegetable that grows! Cut the onions into small pieces, crush them, then wrap them tightly in a clean, thin cloth. Lay on your side and put it on your ear.
If you have ginger and not onions, do the same; the same principles apply. [7]

6
Try basil or mint. These are purely herbal solutions. For both you need to squeeze the juice and dilute it with olive oil or baby oil. For this, crush them and warm them up a little. Peppermint oil should be applied around the ear, but basil juice can be applied into the ear.

7
Chew gum and yawn. You may chew gum or force yourself to stretch if there is a possibility of ear pain caused by the difference in altitude. You will hear a popping sound in your ears and you will automatically feel better.
You can try swallowing hard. This will reduce the pressure by opening the muscle that activates the Eustachian tube.
The American Academy of Otolaryngology advises against this side effect of boarding: Close your mouth and keep your nostrils and your affected ears closed with your fingers. Then, try to breathe through the nostrils to make your ears open. But if the ear is a result of an obstruction caused by an infection in the upper respiratory tract, do not do so because it may spread the infection of the upper respiratory tract into the ears.

8
Use aromatherapy. Dilute an essential oil (eg lavender oil) with a little olive oil and apply it outside the affected ear and around the neck, around the lymph nodes.
If your ear pain is too severe, aromatherapy is not the solution. Your doctor will give you drugs that will act faster than smells.

Method
2nd
Medical Treatment

one
Use antibiotics. If the ear does not go away by itself, if the pain is accompanied by other symptoms or if you are just experiencing excessive pain, go to the doctor. Your doctor can start you on antibiotics.
Penicillin may not work for several days. Ask your doctor if he thinks it will be the same for you and what solutions he can try to relieve the pain.

2nd
Determine if the ear pain is due to the buildup of snot. Coughing and sniffing can irritate the inner ear and eventually cause ear pain. If you have other cold symptoms, it may be responsible for the pain.
Your doctor may recommend a decongestant or nasal spray. Slime production will cease and relieve ear pain, but at least initially you may need to use ibuprofen.

3
See if the earwax is causing the pain. Although earwax exists for your own good, too much can cause ear pain. If the problem is earwax, your doctor can handle this for you.
The doctor will recommend medicated ear drops or earwax removal kits to relieve pain and reduce accumulated earwax. [8] It can also give advice on how to prevent ear pain in the future.
If the ear is hardened and lumpy, the doctor can remove it by hand. It probably won't be your first choice, but it might solve the problem.

Warnings
Use ear drops if the eardrum, ear canals are damaged, if there is external ear infection or ear discharge (pus or fluid comes from the ear). [9]

What Should Be the Right Sleep Position in Lumbar Hernia?

Orthopedic mattresses for patients with lumbar hernia should be used for hospitalization. Just before going to bed, you should come to the edge of the bed with slow movements and sit down. Should be supported by the arms first side, then turn back on the bed should be. If you want to get out of bed, you should first lie down and support from the arms and sit down and then you should stand up. In the lateral position, bending forwards and pulling the legs towards the abdomen is the most suitable position for both hernia patients and healthy individuals.
Protecting your waist from sweat, wind and wind is one of the first measures to be taken. Precautions must be taken to prevent direct air conditioning or air flow.

In addition, the hernia and hernia burst occur when the hard layer outside the disc between the vertebrae of the waist ruptures. In such cases, the gel-like substance in the disc protrudes from the spinal cord or nerve roots, causing pain and pain. These pains can spread to the waist and legs, and bowel and bladder problems may also occur over time, depending on the severity of the pain. Sleep is an important time to promote recovery because it is essential to look at the methods of sleeping with hernia must be examined for patients with hernia.

If there is a burst of hernia, we can use hot and cold compresses about half an hour and forty-five minutes before going to sleep. Magnetic heaters or electric heaters are an alternative for our patients to alleviate pain and pain. If there is bloating, it is useful to compress it with a cold tool such as an ice pack to remove it. They can also make compresses in order. Hot or cold compresses can be used for 5 or 6 minutes for 30 minutes. Keeping the knees slightly higher than normal while sleeping is known to alleviate pain significantly. Place your legs on two swollen pillows so that the pillows come behind your knees. Raising the knees will relieve the pain as it reduces the pressure on the waist and spine.

In another position, you can buy a soft pillow and place it between the thighs. Slowly reach out to your right or left side and try to sleep on this side if possible. Sleeping in this position both aligns the spine and takes the pressure off the waist. Please use our contact information to make an appointment.
If you have tingling along with pain in your legs, you may need to give your body more time to heal. I recommend bed rest for 1 or 2 days to help the healing process. In addition, people with a hernia burst should not force themselves during the healing process.

Are you a desk worker all day long? If your answer is "yes", you probably have low back pain during the day and in the evening. Acıbadem Bakırköy Hospital Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Specialist; Meltem Akınbingöl told us.

Causes of low back pain include overweight, sitting in front of the computer for long hours, weakness of the waist muscles due to inactivity, incorrect movements, coercive activities, long standing, heavy lifting and pushing the goods.

Causes low back pain?
Low back pain, which is the most common cause of disability among people who are actively involved in the business life, increases even more in the following years. Only 1 percent of acute low back pain is due to hernia. In very obese people, the risk of low back pain is much higher in tall people. In general, correction of posture disorders is of great importance in the treatment of mechanical low back pain. Strengthening the waist, back and abdominal muscles, as well as increasing the lumbar support force, prevents recurrence of low back pain.

How does low back pain go?
If your job requires sitting for a long time, be careful not to sit on the chair or in your chair. Because sitting for long hours causes mechanical pain in our waist. Always take small breaks, move up every 20 minutes.

Pay attention to the way you sit
Be sure to sit upright on the chair by breaking your knees. Gently raise one or two feet with the foot support, and support your waist with a small waist cushion. Having your back in the void may invite pain. Keep away from the soft seats.

In order not to have a hernia ...

Kneel by breaking your knees
Leaning your knees while picking something off the ground is a very serious mistake that threatens your waist health. Even if it is small and light, even if it is a paper, you should break your knees and avoid leaning forward. When you brush your teeth, you may have a hernia at a time. Therefore, instead of leaning towards the sink by bending your knees to keep your waist upright brush your teeth.

Drive close to the steering wheel
While driving, be sure to sit with your knees slightly above the hip circumference and move the seat closer to the steering wheel, even if you are going a short distance.

Don't force your back
If you need to push or pull an object, never pull it towards you, rather than push it. Because it forces the waist structures while doing the pulling movement and damages the health of the waist. ”

Don't lie down
When lying on the bed, first sit on the edge of the bed, turn slightly towards a hip, pull your feet to the edge of the bed and lie down slowly. Be careful not to get up from the back position when getting out of bed. First approach to the side of the bed, turn to the side and first get out of the bed by extending your knees. Avoid lying on your stomach as lying on your stomach will force the lumbar structures.

Use digits
Under no circumstances should you reach out if you need to take an object above. Use support, ask for support if necessary. Avoid lifting loads of unknown weight. You will be standing for a long time (for example, when ironing) place a support under one foot.

Don't stay in the same position for long
It is not even work to become twisted on the table by getting busy. Avoid staying in the same position for a long time, leaning forward while working at a desk. Keep your back against your chair or seat.

Distribute your loads evenly
Carrying shopping bags with one hand is one of the biggest mistakes. For your waist health, be sure to carry the weight equal to both hands and carry it close to the body. Always avoid excess weight. Also, avoid lifting loads that you do not know or cannot estimate. Whether heavy or light, these situations can force the waist.

Physical exercise is a must
My back doesn't hurt. Do exercises to strengthen your waist muscles and include stretching exercises to increase flexibility. Otherwise, the strength of the back muscles and abdominal muscles supporting the spine is reduced. However, waist exercises should not be movements that force your waist.

Exercise movements for waist

Lie on your back with your knees bent. Squeeze your abdominal muscles and press your waist towards the bed. Hold up to 5 of you. Unwind and repeat the movement. Perform a total of 30 repetitions.
Lie on your back with your knees bent and hands next to your torso. Raise the body and touch the knees with your hands until the shoulders rise from the bed. Slowly move to the starting position and finish the movement. (Half shuttle)
Lie on your back. Pull the knees towards your chest. Complete the movement with 15 repetitions.
Raise your leg so that you can lift your knees straight again in the same position. These exercises should be done to stretch the leg back muscles and to protect the mechanics of the waist.

If you do these exercises regularly, you will see that your back pain complaints begin to decrease.

The menstrual period in women is a really troublesome process. During this period, women may be under a lot of stress and may even behave a little aggressively. During the menstrual period, the physiology of women varies greatly and this affects them biologically and psychologically.

Alternative ways to alleviate menstrual pain without pills are:

1- Heat Treatment: In some cases, normal temperature has a much greater effect than medicines. A heating pad or thermal plaster applied to the lower abdomen (no more than 10-15 minutes) will help to relax the muscles and eliminate irritating symptoms.

Adhesive plasters are very comfortable because they keep heat for a long time. Alternatively, it is possible to swim in a hot bath or pool. Water calms the pain. After water treatment, it is recommended that you wear soft clothing and lie down for a few hours.

The most common cause of low back and leg pain is hernia. The disc is the cartilaginous tissue that serves as a cushion between the vertebrae. With force, this tissue loses its normal structure; tears and explosions happen. The exploding part immediately presses the nerve to the leg in the neighborhood and the findings occur. Symptoms of a herniated disc include blunt or sharp pain in the waist and leg, muscle spasm or cramps, weakness in the legs and / or drowsiness. Sneezing, coughing or bending from the waist to the front and bending usually increase the pain. Rarely defecation or urine control is lost and urine and fecal incontinence occurs. In this case, seek immediate medical attention.

Pain spreading to the leg is known as iyat sciatica.. Sciatica is usually a symptom of lumbar hernia. Sciatica can cause pressure on one or more nerves of the same name, pain from the hip to the leg and sometimes to the foot, burning, tingling and drowsiness. These signs and symptoms are usually on one side (left or right).

Anatomy: Between the five lumbar vertebrae, which we call the disc, there are relatively hard tissue on the outside and hard inside. The task of the discs is to provide waist flexibility and absorb shock shocks. Each disc has a gel-like inner material (core) and a rubber-like outer ring. Disc herniation is the condition of the core escaping from the ring as a result of weakening or tearing of the outer ring (thick arrow). The herniated part causes pressure on the nerve (small arrow) that leaves the neighboring leg immediately adjacent to the leaf; in more advanced cases, it prevents the nerve from conducting, and loss of strength and numbness in the affected side leg occurs.

Risk factors for hernia: Many factors increase the risk of disc herniation.

Lifestyle choices such as smoking, lack of regular exercise, overweight and malnutrition contribute greatly to poor disk health.
As the body ages, natural biochemical changes lead to a gradual decrease in the water content of the discs, which affects the strength and flexibility of the disc. With aging, discs can become less absorbing from shocks from our movements.
Wrong body posture habit, improper exercise, hard work forces the backbone
These factors, combined with daily wear, accidents, improper heavy lifting or bending, increase the likelihood of a hernia. For example, removing something wrong can cause intra-disk pressure to rise above 100 kg / cm2.

How is hernia diagnosed?

If you have severe back and leg pain, numbness in the leg and loss of strength, you should consult a doctor.

Physical and neurological examination
MRI, sometimes spine CT and flat spine film
EMG
Your doctor will diagnose you using these methods.

Non-Surgical Treatment of Lumbar Hernia

Applications we can do ourselves:

Medium 3-5 days rest on a hard bed
Cold Application: Cold treatment during the first 24-48 hours helps reduce swelling, muscle spasm and pain by reducing blood flow. Never apply cold or ice to your skin; instead, wrap the ice pack or cold battery with a towel and apply it to your waist for up to 15 minutes.
Hot treatment: Usually, after the first 48 hours, heat treatment can be applied. Warming and relaxing soft tissues increases blood flow. Increased blood flow, muscle spasm and disc injury as a result of the tissue to accumulate helps to remove irritating toxins. Do not apply heat directly to your skin (just like cold); Instead, wrap the heat source with a thick towel and apply for no longer than 20 minutes.
Drug Treatment: Always consult with your doctor before taking any of these drugs.

Painkillers: May contain painkillers to alleviate pain. Mild to moderate pain can be treated with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). They reduce both swelling of the tissue and pain.

Anti-inflammatory: These drugs are used to reduce swelling in damaged tissues.

Muscle relaxants: Muscle relaxant is taken to relieve spasm.

Spinal Injection

Epidural steroid injections can be used if leg pain is very severe. It also gives anti-inflammatory drugs near the affected nerves in the lumbar spine. Discuss this option with your doctor and find out about the side effects before starting this treatment.

Physiotheraphy

Your doctor may recommend physical therapy. Physical therapy includes a combination of treatments to reduce pain and increase flexibility. Ice and heat therapy, gentle massage, stretching and pelvic pull are some examples, but your physiotherapist will work with you to develop the best treatment plan for pain and other symptoms.

Surgical Treatment of Lumbar Hernia:

Lumbar hernia;

Pain not responding to medication

Very severe back and / or leg pain

Leg muscular weakness, low foot

If there is surgery.

Some lumbar hernias rarely cause bowel / bladder control disorder. In this case, emergency medical surgery should be performed.

If surgery is recommended, ask for the purpose and possible outcomes of the surgery. You should understand all the details of what is recommended and do not hesitate to get a second opinion from another spine surgeon. Spine surgery is a big decision, so don't decide to rush.

Surgery is performed to relieve nerve pressure and leg pain. Surgery removes all or part of the disc that compresses the nerve. This is done under a microscope.

Today, the most successful treatment method is “microdisketomy yapılan under the microscope. The surgeon accesses the herniated disc by removing a portion of the bone covering the nerve. This process is called laminotomy. Then a portion of the disc between the vertebral bones and the herniated disc is removed and the pressure on the nerve is removed. The received material is sent to pathology.

Surgery can be performed using minimally invasive techniques. Minimally invasive spine surgery does not require a large skin incision, but uses small incisions and tiny special tools and devices such as microscopes during the operation.

Since 2016 in our hospital Op. Dr. Cevdet Gökçek performed nearly 50 microdisketomies under the microscope and achieved successful results in all patients. None of the patients had any serious complications, all had pain and returned to work and normal life.

Can we prevent the formation of a hernia?

A common cause of lumbar hernia is aging. It is not possible to stop aging. However, there are several factors that you control; especially to get support while lifting something, to avoid movements that force the waist, to correct your posture, not to smoke, to choose healthy food, not to lose weight, exercise reduces the risk of hernia occurs.
